Cliff
Dahlberg

MSW, LGSW, LADC, TCYM

I specialize in supporting individuals who are struggling with anxiety and any unwanted coping strategies that have developed. Together we will develop a personalized mindfulness-based path that will help you to become aware of the roots of your anxiety, as well as building your skillset to recognize and change the unwanted coping behaviors that might have grown because of it. Along your journey, you'll discover how to love your authentic self and live a life that is meaningful to you

My Background
------------------------------

In 2018, I was working in the wild--and often weird--world of media production. While I enjoyed the technical aspects of production, I felt this growing sense that something was missing. Around the same time I had recently finished reading two books: Dr. Jean Twenge’s, iGen, and Adam Alter's, Irresistible, both of which painted a bleak picture of how the ubiquity of social media and smartphones was impacting our mental health---most notably, Gen Z. While I had already been concerned, after reading these books I was filled with a desire to help those who were struggling due to the addictive quality and stress-inducing nature of social media. However, while I had a lot of passion, I had zero education (my BA is in Classical Civilization, not psychology). I felt stuck. Luckily, I had met some amazing people who I had been fortunate enough to collaborate with on educational content for national centers and universities. I reached out to neuroendocrinologists, developmental psychologists, and social workers, and they pointed me in the right direction.

To make a very long story short, that led me to earn my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Minnesota. And while I was in that program, Dr. Julie Rohovit, who continues to be an amazing mentor, encouraged me to add coursework that would help me to better understand the nature of addiction and evidence-based treatments rooted in harm reduction. Needless to say I followed her advice and now practice as a dual licensed graduate social worker (LGSW) and alcohol and drug counselor (LADC).

Since graduating I have continued my personal and professional journey learning novel ways of how to better serve individuals who are struggling with various maladaptive behavioral habits (read: addictions). This has included training and certification in forms of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, training and certification in trauma-informed practice through the Polyvagal Institute and the Trauma-Conscious Yoga Institute. I have also completed trainings in modalities like ACT and Focusing (part of the Felt Sense Polyvagal Model)
